Applications are invited from Indian citizens for Research Associate (RA) position in Chemical Sciences / Engineering Sciences. The Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI) is inviting applications for three Research Associate (RA) positions in Chemical and Engineering Sciences.
Candidates with a PhD in these fields, or those who have submitted their thesis, are eligible to apply. The fellowship amount varies from Rs. 42,000 to Rs. 67,000 per month, depending on the candidate's qualifications and experience. The position is initially for two years, with a potential extension for a third year based on performance. Housing Rent Allowance (HRA) is provided if accommodation is not offered by HBNI, along with an annual contingency grant of Rs. 60,000.
Applications must be submitted online through the HBNI website by 30th September 2024. The selection process includes shortlisting candidates based on their academic qualifications and research work, followed by interviews tentatively starting from 11th November 2024. It's important to note that these positions are not permanent and do not guarantee future absorption into HBNI.

Qualification for HBNI Recruitment 2024
- Chemical Sciences: PhD in Chemical Sciences
- Engineering Sciences: PhD in Engineering Sciences
- Candidates who have submitted PhD thesis and not received degree are also eligible to apply for the Research Associate position.
Fellowship for HBNI Recruitment 2024
- The fellowship given by HBNI will be as per DAE guidelines. The Fellowship for Research Associates is Rs.42,000/- per month for those who have submitted PhD thesis and yet to receive their official degree; Rs.58,000/- per month for fresh RA with PhD degree (RA-1);
- Rs.61,000/- per month for RA with PhD degree & 1-year experience (RA-2); Rs.67,000/- per month for RA with PhD degree and 2 or more years of experience (RA-3). The fellowship is tenable for Two (2) years in the first instance and extendable for a Third (3rd) year after a review by a duly appointed committee.
- In addition to the fellowship, HRA is permissible at the rates of the fellowship guidelines of DAE. HRA is not admissible, in case HBNI provides accommodation. Research Associate will be eligible for annual contingency of Rs.60,000/- per year and follow the DAE guidelines for utilization for the grant.
General Information for HBNI Recruitment 2024
- Applications are to be made online only.
- The candidates/ respondents are informed that the advertisement is for Research Associate only. This shall not be considered/ taken as appointment to any position in any organization. This fellowship will terminate automatically without any notice or compensation as laid in the regulations.
- The selected person shall have no claim of appointment / absorption in HBNI.
- The qualification prescribed should have been obtained from recognized Universities / Institutions.
- The prescribed educational qualifications are the bare minimum and mere possession of same does not entitle candidates to be called for interview. Where number of applications received in response to this advertisement is large, it may not be convenient or possible to interview all the candidates. Based on the recommendations of the Screening Committee, the number of candidates to be called for the interview may be restricted to a reasonable limit after taking into consideration of research work and publications.
- The candidature of the applicant shall remain provisional till detailed scrutiny of his/her documents is undertaken and the candidate is found eligible in all respects.
- HBNI would be at liberty to reject any application at any stage of the selection process if the candidate is found ineligible or if it comes to the notice that the candidate has furnished false information.
- The decision of HBNI shall be final in deciding the eligibility of the candidate. The mere fact that a call letter has been issued to the candidate and he/she is allowed to appear in the interview will not imply that entries made by the candidate in his/her application have been accepted as true and correct.
Selection Procedure for HBNI Recruitment 2024
The selection committee will short-list the candidates from amongst those who meet the minimum educational qualifications and satisfy additional criteria which may set as deemed necessary. The short-listed candidates will be interviewed before admission.
