The Government of West Bengal is inviting online applications for permanent recruitment to the position of Fishery Extension Officer/Assistant Fishery Officer/Assistant Research Officer/Fishery Supervisor/Assay Assistant under the W.B. Junior Fishery Services Grade-II.
The essential qualification includes a Bachelor's degree in Fishery Science from a recognized university, along with knowledge of Fisheries, Aquaculture, Aquatic Resources, and Fishing Harbour in West Bengal, with proficiency in reading and writing Bengali or Nepali.
Candidates must be below 39 years old as of January 1, 2024, with certain relaxations for specific categories. Selected candidates will undergo departmental training for up to six months and must sign a bond to serve the government for five years. Qualifications Details for WBPSC Recruitment 2024
- 4(four) years’ Bachelor’s degree in Fishery Science from a recognized University.
- Must have knowledge of Fisheries, Aquaculture, Aquatic Resources and Fishing Harbour in West Bengal.
- Must be able to read and write Bengali or Nepali.
Age Limit for WBPSC Recruitment 2024
Not more than 39 years on 01.01.2024. The upper age limit for persons holding substantive appointment under the Government of West Bengal or Government of India and also for exceptionally well qualified and experienced candidates.
Pay Scale for WBPSC Recruitment 2024
The position is titled Fishery Extension Officer/Assistant Fishery Officer/Assistant Research Officer/Fishery Supervisor/Assay Assistant, falling under the W.B. Junior Fishery Services Grade-II cadre. It corresponds to Level 10 of the pay matrix, with a salary range from Rs. 32,100 to Rs. 82,900, as per the West Bengal Services (Revised Pay) Rules, 2019.
Application Fee for WBPSC Recruitment 2024
The application fee for the recruitment is Rs. 160, with additional charges applicable for different payment methods. For online payments made via debit/credit cards, there is a convenience fee of 1% of the examination fee, with a minimum of Rs. 4.90, plus an 18% GST on this convenience fee. Similarly, for online payments using net banking, there is a convenience fee of Rs. 4.90, plus an 18% GST. Offline payments made through bank counters incur a service charge of Rs. 17.

Selection Process for WBPSC Recruitment 2024
- Marks obtained in Screening Test will not be considered for preparation of Merit List for recommendation. Marks obtained in the Screening Test will only be considered for selection of candidates for interview for the purpose of restricting the number of candidates to be called for interview to a reasonable limit.
- After display of Model Answers (MCQ Type) in the PSC website, objections by the candidates need to be filed strictly within the specific time limit, beyond which no objections shall be entertained.
- In the Screening Test, Tie-Breaking amongst same marks is not applied. Instead, all eligible candidates securing cut-off marks i.e., same marks with the last candidate in respective category will be called to interview
