UPSC Recruitment 2024 Notification Out for 48 Indian Economic Service/ Indian Statistical Service Examination 2024, Check Eligibility at upsc.gov.in
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released a notification for the recruitment of 48 vacancies through the Indian Economic Service/ Indian Statistical Service Examination 2024. The positions include 18 vacancies for the Indian Economic Service and 30 vacancies for the Indian Statistical Service.
Applicants for the Indian Economic Service must possess a Post-Graduate Degree in Economics/ Applied Economics/ Business Economics/ Econometrics, while candidates for the Indian Statistical Service should have a Bachelor's Degree with Statistics/ Mathematical Statistics/ Applied Statistics as one of the subjects or a Master's degree in Statistics/ Mathematical Statistics/ Applied Statistics.
The age limit for candidates is between 21 to 30 years, with age relaxation provided for certain categories. The application process closes on April 30, 2024, and candidates can apply through the UPSC website. The selection process involves a written examination followed by a viva voce. Applicants are required to pay a fee of Rs. 200/-, except for female/SC/ST/Persons with Benchmark Disability Candidates.

Position, Vacancy for UPSC Recruitment 2024
The Services to which recruitment is to be made on the results of this examination and the approximate number of vacancies in Junior Time Scale of the Services are given below
(i) Indian Economic Service - 18
(ii) Indian Statistical Service - 30
Qualification for UPSC Recruitment 2024
(a) A candidate for the Indian Economic Service must have obtained a Post-Graduate Degree in Economics/ Applied Economics/ Business Economics/ Econometrics from a University incorporated by of an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other Educational Institutes established by an Act Parliament or declared to be deemed as University under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 or a Foreign University approved by the Central Government from time to time
(b) A candidate for the Indian Statistical Service must have obtained a Bachelor's Degree with Statistics/Mathematical Statistics/Applied Statistics as one of the subject or a Master's degree in Statistics/ Mathematical Statistics/ Applied Statistics from a University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other Educational Institutes established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as University under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 or a Foreign University approved by the Central Government from time to time.
Age Limit for UPSC Recruitment 2024
(a) A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years on 1st August, 2024 i.e he/she must have been born not earlier than 2nd August, 1994 and not later than 1st August, 2003.
(b) The upper age-limit prescribed above will be relaxable as follows :—
(i) up to a maximum of five years if a candidate belong to a Scheduled Caste or a Scheduled Tribe;
(ii) up to a maximum of three years in the case of candidate belonging to Other Backward Classes who are eligible to avail of reservation applicable to such candidates;
(iii) up to a maximum of three years in the case of Defence Services Personnel disabled in operations during hostilities with any foreign country or in a disturbed area, and released as a consequence thereof
Application Fee for UPSC Recruitment 2024
- Candidates (excepting Female/SC/ST/Persons with Benchmark Disability Candidates who are exempted from payment of fee) are required to pay fee of Rs. 200/- (Rupees Two Hundred only) either by remitting the money in any Branch of State Bank of India or by using Visa/Master/RuPay Credit/Debit Card/UPI Payment or by using Internet Banking of any Bank.
- Applicants who opt for "Pay by Cash" mode should print the system generated Pay-in-slip during part II registration and deposit the fee at the counter of SBI Branch on the next working day only.
- "Pay by Cash” mode will be deactivated at 23:59 hours of 29.04.2024 i.e. one day before the closing date; however applicants who have generated their Pay-in- Slip before it is deactivated may pay at the counter of SBI Branch during banking hours on the closing date.
- Such applicants who are unable to pay by cash on the closing date i.e during banking hours at SBI Branch, for reasons whatsoever, even if holding valid pay-in-slip will have no other offline option but to opt for available online Debit/Credit Card/UPI Payment or Internet Banking payment mode on the closing date i.e. till 18:00 Hours of 30.04.2024.
Selection Procedure for UPSC Recruitment 2024
The examination shall be conducted according to the following plan— Part I-Written examination carrying a maximum of 1000 marks in the subjects as shown below. Part II-Viva voce of such candidates as may be called by the Commission carrying a maximum of 200 marks.

- The Online Applications can be filled upto 30th April, 2024 till 18:00 Hours, after which the link will be disabled
- Candidates are required to apply Online using the https://www.upsconline.nic.in
- It is essential for the applicant to register himself/herself first at One Time Registration (OTR) platform, available on the Commission’s website, and then proceed for filling up the online application for the examination.
- OTR has to be registered only once in life time. This can be done anytime throughout the year. If the candidate is already registered, he/she can proceed straightway for filling up the online application for the examination.
- Modification in OTR Profile: In case, the candidate wants to effect any change in his/her OTR profile, it shall be allowed only once in the lifetime after the registration at OTR platform.
- The option of change in OTR profile data shall be available till expiry of 07 days from the next day after the closure of application window of his/her first final application for any Examination of the Commission.
- Withdrawal of Application: The candidates will not be allowed to withdraw their applications after submission of the same.
