The Shipping Corporation of India Ltd. (SCI) is conducting a walk-in interview on June 24, 2024, to recruit Crane Operators on a direct contract basis for their Mobile Offshore Units (MSVs). They are seeking candidates with technical qualifications such as a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or relevant trade certifications from recognized institutions.
Experience as a Crane Operator, particularly on ONGC MSVs, is preferred, along with necessary certifications like Indian CDC, Passport, PAN Card, INDOS number, and PCC. Candidates must have completed required STCW courses, H2S & STSDSD from DG approved institutes and be medically fit for sea service.
The selected Crane Operators will receive prevailing day rates and will undergo a selection procedure involving document verification, interviews, and medical examinations before being posted on vessels. It's important to note that employment is contractual, contingent upon vacancies and operational requirements, with no job guarantee provided by SCI.

Qualification for SCI Recruitment 2024
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from recognized polytechnic or National Trade Certificate in the trade of Fitter/Marine Fitter or Diesel / Motor Mechanic or Machinist or Welder issued by National Council of Training in Vocational Trade, Ministry of Labour, Government of India (NCTVT) or by the Industrial Training Institute of State Government (ITI).
- Minimum One Year of Rank experience of Crane Operator.
- Crane Operator having minimum One year of Rank experience on board any MSVs of ONGC (Samudra Nidhi, Samudra Sarvekshak, Samudra Prabha & Samudra Sevak).
- Preference will be given to the candidates who are approved by ONGC and have sailed on board any ONGC MSVs. Other requirements/Necessary documents for Crane Operator:
a) Must be in possession of valid Indian CDC, Passport, PAN Card, INDOS no. and PCC.
b) Must have completed all required STCW courses, H2S & STSDSD from DG approved institutes.
c) Must be medically fit for sea service as per present medical rules.
Selection Procedure for SCI Recruitment 2024
a) On selection day at given time all applicants to muster/gather in selection hall.
b) Designated officers from FP Dept. and Operation division of SCI will be present in Selection Hall for selection as per requirement.
c) After verification of all documents and selection in interview, candidates will be sent for medical examination.
d) Thereafter medically fit Crane Operator will be posted on the vessels subject to completion of joining formalities, etc.
