The Railway Recruitment Cell Northern Railway (RRC NR) is recruiting for 4,096 Act Apprentice posts with a deadline of 16-09-2024. Applicants must have passed SSC/Matriculation/10th with at least 50% marks and hold an ITI certificate in the relevant trade from a recognized institution.
No written test will be conducted; selection will be based on a merit list considering both Matriculation and ITI exam marks, with preference for older candidates in case of ties. The application fee is ₹100, payable online, though SC/ST/PwBD/Women candidates are exempt.
All documents, including proof of date of birth, educational certificates, and relevant caste or disability certificates, must be uploaded in JPG format. Discrepancies between online entries and original documents will result in rejection. Applications are accepted from 16.08.2024 to 16.09.2024.

Qualifications Details for RRC NR Recruitment 2024
- The candidate must have passed SSC/Matriculation/10th class examination or its equivalent (under 10+2 examination system) with minimum 50% marks, in aggregate, from recognized Board and must have passed ITI in relevant trade issued by NCVT/SCVT recognized by Government of India.
- Note: The candidate should have already passed the prescribed qualification on the date of issue of notification. The applicants whose SSC/Matriculation/10th and ITI result are awaited as on date of notification are not eligible to apply.
Age Limit for RRC NR Recruitment 2024
- Candidates must be between 15 and 24 years old as of 16.09.2024, with age relaxations of 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC, and 10 years for Persons with Disabilities. Ex-servicemen may receive up to 13 years of relaxation based on service, provided they have at least 6 months of continuous service.
- Caste certificates and Non-Creamy Layer Certificates are required for SC/ST and OBC candidates, respectively. Ex-servicemen and Armed Forces Personnel need to present discharge or service certificates. PwBD candidates must submit a valid PH/PWD certificate from a competent authority. Documentation for all reservations must be provided during document verification.
Application Fee for RRC NR Recruitment 2024
- Application fee Rs 100/- is to be paid through ONLINE Mode as part of online application process.
- RRC will not accept Application fee in Cash/Cheque/Money order/IPO/Demand Draft/ Central Recruitment Fee Stamps etc. Candidate to note that RRC/NR is not responsible for incomplete or pending online application fee transaction for whatever reason. In such case candidate need to proceed with fresh/new transaction of payment of application fee. Transaction charges for online payment, if any, will be borne by the candidates. On successful completion of the transaction, e-receipt with the date entered by the candidate will be generated which should be printed and retained by the candidate.
- No fee is required to be paid by SC/ST/PwBD/Women candidates.
Selection Process for RRC NR Recruitment 2024
- Screening & Scrutiny of the application. There will be no written test of viva.
- Selection of Act Apprentice is to be made on the basis of merit prepared taking the average of the percentage marks obtained by the candidate in both Matriculation/SSC/10th (with minimum 50% aggregate marks) & ITI examination giving equal weight age to both.
- In case of two candidates having the same marks, the candidate having older age shall be preferred. In case of the Date of Birth are also same, then the candidate who passed matriculation exam earlier shall be considered first.
- A final merit list will be prepared cluster, trade wise and community wise, equal to the number of slots in the descending order of percentage of marks obtained by the candidate in SSC/ Matriculation/10th & ITI.
- The applicant should note that in case any discrepancy in the Marks/CGPA entered in the online application and the original marksheet/certificate, is found at the time of Documents Verification, the candidature of the Applicant will be rejected summarily.
How to Apply for RRC NR Recruitment 2024
- To apply online for the Act Apprentice position, start by clicking on the “Engagement of Act Apprentice” link. Register by providing your personal details such as name, father’s name, community, category, mobile number, email ID, and date of birth.
- After registration, you will receive a login password via email and SMS. Log in to access the Candidate Dashboard, where you can complete the application form, pay the online fee (if applicable), and upload necessary documents. Required documents include proof of date of birth, educational certificates, ITI mark sheets, National Trade Certificate, and relevant caste, disability, or ex-servicemen certificates.
- All documents must be uploaded in JPG format, with photographs, signatures, and thumb impressions sized between 10 to 50 KB. Applications will be rejected if required documents are not uploaded or if the documents are not in English or Hindi, without an accompanying translation. Ensure all original documents, along with two self-attested copies, are presented during the document verification process. The online application period runs from 16.08.2024 to 16.09.2024.
