Applications are invited for two posts of Laboratory Technician in Department of Biotechnology (DBT) funded research project entitled “Whole Genome Sequencing of MTB Clinical Strains for Determining Drug Resistance and Strain lineage in India: A Structured Nationwide Approach”. All posts are purely on contractual basis initially for up to six months, and may get extended till project completion. Those selected will have no claim to regular appointment either at PGIMER, or in another research activity.

PGIMER Chandigarh has announced recruitment for two Laboratory Technician positions under a DBT-funded project focusing on Whole Genome Sequencing of MTB Clinical Strains in India. The positions are contract-based initially for six months, extendable till project completion. Candidates must hold a BSc (MLT) from a recognized university and possess one year of technical experience in Mycobacteriology or Microbiology laboratories.

Responsibilities include coordinating patient and laboratory activities, conducting mycobacterial cultures, data entry, sample management, equipment maintenance, and ensuring quality assurance. Interested candidates must submit a two-page bio-data with supporting documents by June 22, 2024. Shortlisted applicants will undergo interviews on June 24, 2024, at PGIMER, Chandigarh. Age relaxation applies per government norms, and no TA/DA will be provided for the interview.

Qualification For PGIMER Chandigarh Recruitment 2024

• BSc (MLT) through full-time non-correspondence course from recognized university.
• Technical experience in Mycobacteriology/Microbiology laboratory for one year.
• Scheduling, conduct, and coordination of various patient and laboratory activities of the project; collection, processing, mycobacterial culture and other investigations, and reporting of patient samples; filling up case record forms and data entry as per project SOPs; sample storage, packaging, and shipment; maintaining an inventory of equipment and consumables; on-site troubleshooting and quality assurance; liaison with various participating laboratories and investigators; regular appraisal of project data; and other miscellaneous project activities.

• Interested candidates may submit their two-page bio-data, along with self-attested testimonials and any other supporting documents, to the office of the undersigned by 12:00 noon on June 22, 2024, clearly mentioning the post applied for. This bio-data should highlight complete information on the applicant’s eligibility and relevant experience for post applied for, and include his/her e-mail address and mobile number.
• After scrutiny of applications, only the shortlisted candidates will be personally interviewed. Age relaxation will be given to SC, ST, and OBC applicants as per government norms. Interview will be held at 3:00 PM on June 24, 2024 at the office of the undersigned at Nehru Hospital (Level 4, Block F), PGIMER, Chandigarh.
• In case the number of shortlisted applicants is large, only those having any desirable qualification will be called for the interview. This interview is on-site only, and applicants reporting late will not be assessed. No TA/DA will be admissible for attending the interview.
