The District Legal Services Authority, Jorhat, has issued a call for applications from local residents of Jorhat District interested in serving as Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs). Approximately twenty PLVs are sought for various tasks within the district.
Applicants must fulfill certain qualifications, including being Indian citizens and belonging to specified groups such as teachers (including retired teachers), retired government servants, social work students and teachers, anganwadi workers, doctors/physicians, students and law students (until they enroll as lawyers), members of non-political NGOs, women's groups, and other self-help groups.
Additionally, applicants should have a minimum education level of matriculation and demonstrate empathy and commitment towards assisting marginalized communities. PLVs are not entitled to any salary or remuneration except as determined by the District Legal Services Authority.

The eligibility criteria for serving as a Para Legal Volunteer (PLV) under the District Legal Services Authority encompass individuals who are citizens of India and fall into specific groups. These include teachers, whether currently working or retired, as well as retired government servants and senior citizens.
Additionally, students and teachers pursuing or specializing in Master of Social Works are eligible, alongside anganwadi workers, doctors, physicians, and students, including law students until they become enrolled lawyers. Furthermore, members of non-political, service-oriented NGOs and clubs, as well as women's neighborhood groups, Maithri Sanghams, and other self-help groups, including those representing marginalized or vulnerable populations, are encouraged to apply.
The Authority also reserves the right to consider any other individual deemed suitable for the role of Para Legal Volunteer under their revised scheme.The applicants should pass minimum matriculation with a capacity for over all comprehension and should have mindset to assist the needy in society coupled with the compassion, empathy and concern for the upliftment of marginalized and weaker sections of the society. They must have the unflinching commitment towards the cause which should be translated into the work they undertake.

- The minimum age for the selection of Para Legal Volunteer should not be less than 21 years as on date of notice.

- The filled up application should reach the office of the Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Jorhat on or before 18/04/2024. The applicants should submit their mobile/contact number in their application for further required communication, if any.
- Incomplete applications will be rejected without assigning any reasons. No applications will be entertained after the last date fixed.
- The decisions of the Selection Committee in short listing the number of candidate for interview and selection of PLV shall be final. They will be selected as per relevant Scheme, in this regard.
- In case of any objection regarding selection of PLV's the decision of Chairman, District Legal Services Authority; Jorhat shall be final and binding to all concerned.
- List of shortlisted eligible candidates, if any, will be notified in the Official Notice Board as well as uploaded in the Official website of Jorhat District Judiciary i.e. http://iorhatiudiciarv.Qov.in for interview.
- No TA/DA will be provided for appearing in the interview
