The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has released a recruitment notification for the position of Consultant in the UNP Division, with one vacancy available. Applicants must be Indian nationals under 45 years of age with a Doctoral or Master’s degree in fields such as Economics, Political Science, International Relations, Development Economics, or Law, and at least one year of experience as a Researcher or Consultant.

Strong communication and computer skills are also required. The role is contractual, offering a maximum remuneration of ₹10 lakh annually, with no additional benefits like Provident Fund, Pension, or Medical Attendance.

The Consultant will be responsible for research and documentation related to India’s engagement with the UN and other international organizations, monitoring global geopolitical developments, preparing reports and policy papers, and contributing to multilateral discussions. The last date to apply is 24th September 2024, and applications can be submitted either offline via registered post or online through email. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted for an interview.

Qualifications Details for Ministry of External Affairs Recruitment 2024

• The Applicant should be an Indian national.
• Applicant should ideally possess Doctoral / Master’s degree in Economic / Political Science / International Relations / Development Economics / Law or other suitable qualification with one year’s experience as a Researcher/ Consultant in the relevant field.. Good communications skills.
• Good skills in English speaking and writing.
• Good knowledge in computers for preparing documents, presentations, datasheets etc.
• Applicant should not be more than 45 years of age on last date of submission of applications and should be in good health.

Pay Scale for Ministry of External Affairs Recruitment 2024

• The remuneration package will be commensurate with the experience and profile of the selected candidate , subject to a maximum of Rs. 10 lakh per annum and deduction of applicable taxes.
• The amount of consultancy fee so fixed shall remain unchanged during the term of engagement.
• The engagement will be strictly contractual and will not confer any other benefits to the selected candidates.
• The consultant shall not be entitled to any benefit like Provident Fund, Pension, Gratuity, Medical Attendance Treatment, Seniority, Promotion etc. or any other benefits available to the regular employees of the Ministry.
• No HRA shall be admissible.
• The engagement of the Consultant is on full time basis.
• Normal working hours will be from 0900 to 1730 hrs.
• Working hours is subject to change from time to time. Saturdays/Sundays will remain closed as weekend off. In exigencies, he/she may be required to work beyond office hours and/or on closed holidays. No extra allowance or remuneration for such work is admissible. He/She shall not accept any other professional appointment, paid or otherwise during the term of engagement with this Ministry.

Nature of Duties for Ministry of External Affairs Recruitment 2024

• Research and documentation work for the UNP Division.
• To monitor regular global geo-political perspective in order to effectively contribute with regard to engagements of India with the UN and several other related international organizations.
• To monitor and report regularly on the evolving dynamics with respect to global political setting and the views & roles of various international organizations and co-stakeholders.
• Consultative policy papers pertaining to the UN and other emerging multilateral issues.
• Research work on presence and influence of various countries in different international bodies and organizations.
• Preparation of Concept Notes, Issues Notes, Draft Statements & Outcome Documents etc.
• Any other responsibilities assigned by the Head of Division.

• Applications received after the closing date or without the prescribed documents or otherwise found incomplete or not in the prescribed proforma as given in, are liable to be rejected and no correspondence shall be entertained in this regard.
