The Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi, is seeking applications for the engagement of two Consultants in its ED Division. The initial contract period is one year, extendable based on performance and mutual agreement. Consultants will handle legal issues, provide advice on arbitration cases, attend court hearings, and contribute to UNCITRAL and International Solar Alliance matters.
Essential qualifications include an LLM degree, three years of post-LLM experience, registration to practice law in India, and age between 26-45 years. Desirable criteria include experience in investment treaty arbitration and strong communication skills.
Remuneration is up to Rs. 10 lakh per annum, with no additional benefits. Consultants are expected to work full-time with normal office hours, subject to change, and may work beyond these hours when necessary. Paid leave may be granted, and travel expenses will be covered for official duties. Applications can be submitted offline or online, with shortlisted candidates invited for an interview. Qualifications Details for Ministry of External Affairs Recruitment 2024
- The Applicant should be an Indian national.
- Have a Post Graduate Degree in Law (LLM) from a reputed/recognized institution from India or abroad with specialization in arbitration/ commercial/investment matters.
- Possess a minimum of 3 years work experience post LLM.
- It is essential that applicant should be registered to practice before the courts in India.
- Previous experience of handling issues in the field of investment treaty arbitration or investment treaty law etc. in Government of India.
- Strong written and spoken communication skills in English.
- Proficiency in use of computers (Word, Excel, Power Point Etc.).

The applicant should be between 26- 45 years of age as on the last date of submission of application.
Pay Scale for Ministry of External Affairs Recruitment 2024
- The remuneration package will be commensurate with the experience and profile of the selected candidate, subject to a maximum of Rs. 10 lakh per annum and deduction of applicable taxes. The consultancy fees shall be paid in Indian Rupees. The amount of consultancy fee so fixed shall remain unchanged during the term of engagement.
- The engagement will be strictly contractual and will not confer any other benefits to the selected candidates.The consultant shall not be entitled to any benefit like Provident Fund, Pension, Gratuity, Medical Attendance Treatment, Seniority, Promotion etc. or any other benefits available to the regular employees of the Ministry. o HRA shall be admissible
Selection Process for Ministry of External Affairs Recruitment 2024
- The selected person will be required to enter into a contract with the Ministry in a prescribed format w.e.f. from the actual date of engagement as Consultant
- The final selection will be based on their performance at the interview.
- The decision of the Government regarding selection of candidate will be final.
- Ministry of External Affairs will review the applications and shortlist the candidates for interview. The shortlisted candidates will be intimated by email.
