The Department of Geography at DSB Campus, Kumaun University, Nainital, is seeking applications for a Research Assistant position funded by the Chief Minister Higher Education Research Encouragement Scheme (CMHERES) of the Government of Uttarakhand. The project aims to assess the impact of human intervention on geomorphological resources in the Jaigan Watershed of the Central Lesser Himalaya.
The ideal candidate should hold a Master's Degree with at least 55% in Geography, Geoinformatics, or Environmental Science from a UGC recognized university, and be a regular student or research scholar on campus. Desirable qualifications include knowledge of the Kumaun Himalayan terrain, proficiency in fieldwork, data analysis, and geospatial technologies, as well as excellent communication skills in English, Hindi, and the local language.
The position offers a consolidated monthly stipend of Rs. 5000 for a duration of two years and involves tasks such as surveying, data collection, analysis, report writing, and assisting in organizing workshops and seminars related to the project. Qualifications Details for Kumaun University Recruitment 2024
- Minimum educational qualification is Master's Degree with at least 55% or above in Geography/Geoinformatics/Environmental Science from UGC recognized University.
- The applicant must be a regular student/research scholar of the college/university campus.
- Knowledge and understanding of the physical, ecological, and social aspects of the mountainous terrain of Kumaun Himalaya.
- Proficiency in field work based data collection, data analysis, and interpretation of research findings
- Sound knowledge of geospatial technologies (RS/GIS/GPS), Statistical software SPSS and computer packages (MS Excel & MS Office) along with other research software.
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English, Hindi and Local Language.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
Pay Scale for Kumaun University Recruitment 2024
Kumaun University is offering a position for a Research Assistant with a monthly consolidated salary of Rs. 5000. The duration of the position is two years from the date of appointment, and it is purely temporary, co-terminus with the project. Selection Process for Kumaun University Recruitment 2024
- Selection committee may select candidate against the above post depending upon the qualifications and experience of the candidate and reserves the right to relax any of the qualification(s) in case the candidate is found otherwise well qualified by the Selection Committee.
- The initial appointment may be for six months/one year or as per recommendation of the selection committee, which may be extended at the discretion of the competent authority based on evaluation of the performance and satisfactory progress of the candidate
