The Chief Operations Manager (COM) holds a critical leadership role within the Operating Department. Their responsibilities encompass planning and overseeing various safety initiatives, monitoring the punctuality of train services, and ensuring the smooth operation of both passenger and freight trains.
Additionally, the COM is responsible for maintaining close coordination with Zonal Railways and the Railway Board, overseeing traffic facility projects, contributing to marketing and business development efforts, and managing general administrative tasks.
The position is designed for IRTS Officers who have accrued significant experience, typically 15 years, in Group A of the Indian Railways or similar government departments or PSUs. The role requires a deep understanding of railway operations, project management, and strategic planning to ensure the efficiency and safety of railway services.

Qualifications Details for KRCL Recruitment 2024
- Minimum working experience of 15 years of service in Group A in Indian Railways/other Govt. Deptt / PSU.
- Chief Operations Manger is head of Operating Department.
- The function of COM include to plan and monitor Safety drives, Punctuality monitoring, responsibilities of train operation, constant monitoring of passenger as well as goods train traffic, close co-ordination with Zonal Railways & Railway Board, planning of traffic facility works, project related works, marketing & business development activities and general administrative work
Pay Scale for KRCL Recruitment 2024
- IRTS Officer working in PML-14 of 7th CPC in Indian Railways or in other PSU in IDA scale E8 (Rs.1,20,000- 2,80,000)
IRTS Officer working in PML-13 of 7th CPC in Indian Railways and with 15 years experience or in other PSU in IDA scale E6 (Rs.90,000-2,40,000) with 15 years experience. - As per 7th CPC Pay Matrix Level-14
- As per 7th CPC Pay Matrix Level-13
- The officer will draw pay and allowances as per DOPT instructions, which would have been admissible to him/ her from time to time on the Railways plus deputation (duty) allowance.

- The officer will draw pay which would have been admissible to him/her from time to time on the Railways plus deputation (duty) allowance.

- Selection criteria will be as mentioned in Ministry of Railway, Railway Board's letter No.2017/E(O)II/41/5 dated 25/05/2017 and no.2018/E(O)II/41/1 dated 07/03/2018.
- Apropos Railway Board letter no. 2018/E(O)II/41/1 dated 08/02/2023, the application of officers working in Zonal Railways/PUS for deputation to Railway PSUs/Autonomous Bodies and all other Organizations will be forwarded with the approval of the Competent Authority in Ministry.
- Accordingly, all Zonal Railways/PUs are required to forward the applications of the officers to Railway Board well in advance, i.e. at least 07 days prior to the last date of vacancy notice.
- KRCL will consider applications of only those officers whose applications are forwarded by Railway Board.
