The Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) in Puducherry is hiring for the position of Senior Research Scientist. There is one post available with a monthly salary of Rs 1,25,000. The maximum age limit for applicants is 40 years as of the application deadline on August 23, 2024. The job location is Puducherry.
Applicants must have a PhD in Microbiology and at least five years of post-PhD experience in Tuberculosis (TB). They should have demonstrated experience in human blood-based biomarkers for TB diagnosis, as well as in non-tuberculous mycobacterium and drug-resistant Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Fluency in Tamil and experience in handling Indian-foreign collaboration projects and TB research are also required. Publications in PubMed indexed journals and experience with MGIT, GeneXpert, Line probe assay, real-time PCR, and ELISA are essential.
Candidates must submit applications in the prescribed format by August 23, 2024. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a written test and/or interview on August 26, 2024. The written test will be held at the Microbiology department of JIPMER. No TA/DA will be provided for attending the interview. The selected candidate will be hired on a contractual basis for an externally sponsored project with no claim to a regular post at JIPMER.

Qualifications Details for JIPMER Recruitment 2024
- PhD in Microbiology.
- Five years of post-PhD experience in Tuberculosis (TB).
- The candidate should have demonstrated work experience (minimum one publication in PubMed indexed journal) in human blood-based biomarkers for the diagnosis of PTB & EPTB.
- Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking in Tamil.
- Demonstrated experience (Publications in PubMed indexed journals) in non-tuberculous mycobacterium (NTM) and drug-resistant Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
- Demonstrated experience (Publications in PubMed indexed journals) in MGIT, GeneXpert, Line probe assay, real-time PCR, and ELISA for TB diagnosis and research.

Selection Process for JIPMER Recruitment 2024
- Only shortlisted candidates will be called for a written test and/or interview. The decision of the Project Investigator will be final.
- If the number of applications is very large, more stringent criteria than those specified above may be used to determine eligibility.
- No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview. Incomplete applications, applications that are not in the prescribed format, and those not fulfilling the essential criteria above are likely to be summarily rejected.
- Candidates may attach their CVs with the application form; however, applications with CV alone and without the prescribed form and certificates will be rejected.
- The eligible candidates should report at 09:00 AM on 26.08.2024 at the Microbiology office, II floor, Institute Block, Dept. of Microbiology, JIPMER for verification of identity proof and age (Aadhar/voter ID/10th Mark sheet) in original, certificates of qualification and experience, and proof for age relaxation, if any.
- The written test will be conducted on 26.08.2024 at 9:30 AM at the Microbiology department, II floor, Institute Block, Dept. of Microbiology, JIPMER.
Terms and Conditions for JIPMER Recruitment 2024
- This position is purely on contract basis for an externally sponsored project, and the person engaged will have no claim to any regular post in JIPMER at any time. Further, the position is only for the duration of the project and based purely on external funding support for the project.
- The engagement may be extended or curtailed at discretion of the Project Investigator.
- Qualification and experience should be in a relevant discipline/field and in a reputed institution/organization. The experience should have been gained after acquiring the essential qualification.
- Qualification, experience, other terms, and conditions may be relaxed/ altered at the discretion of the Principal Investigator.
- Valid email ID and mobile number are compulsory.
- Consolidated salary of the post may vary from time to time. No other allowance/facilities other than consolidated salary shall be extended.
