Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata (ISI Kolkata) is recruiting for the position of Junior Research Fellow on a temporary basis for the project "The Sacred Hills and Groves: A Study of Culture and Biodiversity Conservation in Jharkhand, India" within the Sociological Research Unit located in Giridih, Jharkhand.
The salary offered is Rs. 30,000 per month with a maximum age limit of 35 years as of April 1, 2024. Candidates should possess a Master's degree in Sociology/Anthropology with relevant research experience.
Selection will be based on a written test and interview, and shortlisted candidates will be notified via email. Interested candidates must submit their applications with required documents by April 19, 2024, through email.

Qualification for ISI Kolkata Recruitment 2024
- First class or equivalent CGPA in Master's degree in Sociology/ Anthropology from a recognised University or Institute.
- Candidates with minimum one year of research/ field study experience from a reputed institute or university on human ecology, natural resource management, cultural studies, tribal studies with evidence of publication in the related field will be preferred.
- Knowledge/ experience in data extraction, data processing and analysis using SPSS/ R/ other related statistical packages for social sciences is desired.
Salary for ISI Kolkata Recruitment 2024
- Indian Statistical Institute (ISI), Kolkata is seeking applications for the position of one (01) Project-linked Junior Research Fellow on a temporary basis.
- The selected candidate will work on the project titled "The Sacred Hills and Groves
- A Study of Culture and Biodiversity Conservation in Jharkhand, India" within the Sociological Research Unit of the Indian Statistical Institute located in Giridih, Jharkhand.
- The consolidated pay for this role is Rs. 30,000 per month.
Age Limit for ISI Kolkata Recruitment 2024
- The maximum age limit for applicants should be 35 years as of April 1, 2024
- Although there is the possibility of age relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/Women and differently-abled candidates
Selection Procedure for ISI Kolkata Recruitment 2024
- Applicants shortlisted for interview/ written test will be notified by e-mail to the address provided by the applicant within May 2024.
- The selected candidate will have to station in Giridih, Jharkhand and work under the supervision of the Principal Investigator of the project and no accommodation/ house rent will be provided separately.
- No TA/DA is admissible for the candidates appearing in the Interview/ Written Test.
- At the time of joining, the selected candidate has to produce all relevant documents/testimonials in original for verification and a medical certificate of fitness from the Medical Officer of the Institute.

Road, Kolkata - 700108 with current resume (signed) in English, which is required to include Name (In block letters), Permanent/ Present Address, E-mail Address, Telephone/Mobile No., Parent's/Spouse's Name, Date of birth, Academic Qualifications (with percentage of marks obtained in each examination starting from 10th class), Experience (if any), Aadhar Card/ Voter Card/ Pan Card, SC/ST/OBC/Differently abled status including self attested copies of all documents/testimonials through e-mail only at [email protected] with CC to [email protected] and [email protected] latest by 19 April 2024.
- Failing this, the institute will offer the position to the next candidate in the merit list prepared for this purpose. CVs with incomplete information or without supporting documents will be summarily rejected.
- The project involves field studies in rural/ tribal pockets.
- The Institute reserves the right not to appoint any of the above.
