The Institute for Plasma Research (IPR), under the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India, invites highly motivated candidates for doctoral research in various fields of plasma physics. Candidates with M.Sc. or B.S./B.Sc. degrees in Physics or related fields are eligible to apply.
They must have qualified national level examinations such as JEST, GATE, or CSIR-UGC-JRF-NET. The maximum age limit is 26 years with relaxations for SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates. Selection will be based on personal interview, with travel expenses covered for shortlisted candidates.
Selected Junior Research Fellows (JRFs) will receive a consolidated stipend, book grant, medical facilities, and hostel accommodation. Qualification for IPR Recruitment 2024
- M.Sc. in one of the following subjects: Physics, Engineering Physics or Applied Physics with a minimum aggregate of 60%. Candidates must have Physics and Mathematics courses at the undergraduate level.
- Candidates expecting a Master’s degree (M. Sc.) in the year 2024 can apply.
- BS/B.Sc. (4-years) in Physics with a minimum aggregate of 75% can also apply.
- The candidates MUST have qualified at least one of the following national level examinations:
- JEST–2024 (in Physics)
- GATE in Physics (Paper code PH) valid for 2022/2023/2024 and
- CSIR–UGC-JRF-NET in December 2023 or June 2023 in Physical Sciences (Subject code PHY).

Selection Procedure for IPR Recruitment 2024
- Shortlisted candidates will be required to appear for a personal interview.
- The final selection of the candidates shall be based on performance in the interview.

- The selected Junior Research Fellows (JRFs) will be eligible for registration in the Ph.D. programme of Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI) (deemed to be university) subject to fulfilment of HBNI/UGC norms.
- The Degree will be awarded by the HBNI.

- Short-listed candidates for the Physical-Interview shall be announced on the IPR website by 21st May 2024.
