Indian Overseas Bank, a prominent Public Sector Bank headquartered in Chennai with a wide geographical presence both in India and abroad, invites online applications for the engagement of apprentices under the Apprentices Act, 1961 and in accordance with the Bank's Apprenticeship Policy.
Qualified candidates who meet the eligibility criteria are encouraged to apply online between 28.08.2024 and 10.09.2024. Applications can be submitted by visiting the careers page on our website at www.iob.in and clicking on “Apply Online” under the Engagement of Apprentices section (the application link redirects to the BFSI SSC of India website) or by visiting www.bfsissc.com. Please note that applications will only be accepted through this online mode.
Candidates should carefully review the advertisement before applying to ensure they meet all eligibility requirements. Once the Application Fee/Intimation Charges are paid, they are non-refundable and cannot be adjusted against any other engagement process. Candidates are advised to accurately enter their details online themselves.

Qualification for IOB Recruitment 2024
A Degree (Graduation) in any discipline from a University recognized by the Govt. of India or any equivalent qualifications recognized as such by the Central Government. The result of the qualification must have been declared between 01.04.2020 and 01.08.2024 wherein both the dates are inclusive and candidate must produce Mark Sheets and Provisional / Degree Certificate issued from the University / College as and when required by the Bank.
Pay Scale for IOB Recruitment 2024
Selected apprentices will receive a stipend for the one-year contract period as follows:
- Metro Branches: ₹15,000 per month
- Urban Branches: ₹12,000 per month
- Semi-Urban/Rural Branches: ₹10,000 per month
Note: The stipend amounts include any government subsidies. The Bank will pay the stipend as detailed below:
- Metro Branches: ₹15,000 – ₹4,500 (Government subsidy) = ₹10,500 per month
- Urban Branches: ₹12,000 – ₹4,500 (Government subsidy) = ₹7,500 per month
- Semi-Urban/Rural Branches: ₹10,000 – ₹4,500 (Government subsidy) = ₹5,500 per month
The stipend will be credited to the apprentices' bank accounts each month, after adjusting for any unauthorized leave.
The government’s share of ₹4,500 will be directly transferred to the apprentices' bank accounts through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mode, in accordance with existing guidelines.
Apprentices will not be eligible for any additional allowances or benefits.
Age Limit for IOB Recruitment 2024
Minimum 20 years and Maximum 28 years as on cut-off date viz. 01.08.2024 for General Category and EWS Candidates, the Date of Birth should fall between 01.08.1996 and 01.08.2004 wherein both the dates are inclusive. However, relaxation in maximum age for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD will be as per extant Government of India guidelines.
Application Fee for IOB Recruitment 2024
Only eligible candidates will receive an email from BFSI SSC to make the payment of the requisite examination fees/intimation charges. Payments must be made online from 28.08.2024 to 15.09.2024, and no other payment methods will be accepted. The fees are as follows:
- PwBD: ₹400 plus GST (18%) = ₹472
- Female / SC / ST: ₹600 plus GST (18%) = ₹708
- GEN / OBC / EWS: ₹800 plus GST (18%) = ₹944
Once the application is submitted, it cannot be withdrawn, and the fee paid will not be refunded under any circumstances, nor can it be adjusted for any other engagement process.
Selection Procedure for IOB Recruitment 2024
Selection will be made on the basis of an Online Examination & test of local language wherever applicable and personal interaction if any as decided by the Bank. Merely satisfying the eligibility norms do not entitle a candidate to be called for Online Examination and personal interaction.
The total duration of the examination will be 90 minutes.
- All candidates who have paid the examination fee will receive an intimation from the BFSI Sector Skill Council of India (BFSI SSC) regarding the date and time of the examination.
- Candidates must take the online examination on the specified date and time using their own camera-enabled desktop, laptop, tablet, or smartphone.
- Candidates are required to present the same ID proof for image capture that was uploaded on the apprenticeship portal.
- Except for PwBD candidates, no one else is allowed near the candidate during the online examination. Guidelines for this will be provided by the exam conducting agency.
- Candidates must achieve a minimum aggregate percentage mark as decided by the Bank, with a 5% relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD candidates. There will be no minimum qualifying marks for individual subjects.
- Selection will be based on merit, subject to reservation rules. If multiple candidates have the same score at the cutoff point, the candidate who is older will be ranked higher on the merit list.
- Results for candidates who qualify at various stages and the final selected list will be published on the website.
- A waitlist (state-category wise) will be maintained for one year from the date of the result or the next engagement exercise, whichever comes first. Candidates may be called from the waitlist if there are non-joinings, subject to the availability of qualified candidates.
Candidates applying for training positions in a specific state must be proficient in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding one of the local languages of that state (as specified during the application process).
The local language test will be conducted after the online written examination, as part of the selection process. This test will take place during the document verification stage.
Candidates who do not pass the local language test will not be considered for apprenticeship. However, candidates who provide a 10th or 12th standard mark sheet or certificate showing that they studied the specified local language will be exempt from this test.

- Candidates can apply provided they meet the eligibility criteria. Registration and payment of the application fee must be completed individually. Applications will only be accepted online from 28.08.2024 to 10.09.2024 on www.bfsissc.com, and no other mode of application will be considered.

- Ensure you have a valid personal email ID and contact number that remains active throughout the engagement process. The Bank may send important communications, including those from BFSI SSC, to the registered email ID. Candidates should not share or use someone else's email ID. If you do not have a personal email ID, create one before applying online and maintain that account.
- Additionally, candidates must complete their registration on the NATS portal (https://nats.education.gov.in) before applying for the IOB Apprenticeship program for FY 2024-25. You will need to provide your NATS Enrolment number when filling out the online application form on www.bfsissc.com.
