IITM Recruitment 2024 Qualifications Details
IITM Research Associate:
- Doctorate degree from a recognized University in Meteorology/ Atmospheric Sciences/ Oceanic Sciences/ Physics/ Applied Physics/ Geophysics / Mathematics/ Applied Mathematics/ Statistics/ Chemistry/ Mechanical Engineering/ Aerospace Engineering/ Geology/ Earth Sciences/ Computer Science/ Computer Applications or related subjects and having at least one first-author research paper in Science Citation Index (SCI) journal in the relevant field.
- Candidates should have at least 55% aggregate marks for General and OBC Category (50% for SC, ST and PwBD) in the Master’s degree.
- Skill in Computer programming using Python, FORTRAN, C++, R, NCL etc., shell scripting, acquainted with MATLAB software, CFD softwares, MET-TC, VSDB, AI/ML, etc. Experience with Linux/UNIX operating system.
IITM Research Fellow:
- Post Graduate degree from a recognized University in Physical Sciences [includes Physics/ Applied Physics/ Atmospheric Sciences/ Meteorology/ Oceanography / Climate Science/ Geophysics with Meteorology/ Environmental Sciences/ Electronics or related subjects] / Chemical Sciences [includes Chemistry/ Physical Chemistry/ Inorganic Chemistry/ Organic Chemistry or related subjects]/ Mathematical Sciences [includes Mathematics/ Applied Mathematics/ statistics or related subjects] or M. Tech. in Atmospheric/ Oceanic Sciences or related subjects
- Master’s degree from any branch of Engineering
- The candidates should have studied Physics AND Mathematics subjects at bachelor’s degree.

- IITM Research Fellow:28 years as on 15.04.2024

Selection Process for IITM Recruitment 2024
- The qualifications prescribed in the advertisement are the minimum requirements and possession of the same doesn’t guarantee that the candidate would be called for a written test or interview. A duly constituted Screening Committee shall screen the applications received for the posts based on the given eligibility criteria and may introduce additional criteria as deemed necessary for short-listing the candidates for written test or interview.
- In the event of a large number of applications received for IITM Research Fellow positions, IITM may conduct a written test to shortlist the candidates. The purpose of this test is only to shortlist the applications for the interview. Once the candidate is selected for an interview, the marks obtained in the written test will not be considered for the final selection process. Final selection will be done only based on the marks obtained in the Interview.
How to Apply for IITM Recruitment 2024
- Applications along with supporting documents will be received in on-line mode only. No hard copies are to be submitted.
- The application portal will be hosted on IITM website at the following link https://www.tropmet.res.in/Careers. The portal shall be active from 04.03.2024 (1700 hrs) to 15.04.2024 (1700 hrs).
- Upon completing application, each applicant would receive an on-line Application ID, which should be carefully preserved for future reference and correspondence. Active and valid E-mail ID and Mobile Number of the applicant are compulsory in the application. Any request for change of e-mail id will not be entertained.
- Incomplete applications and applications not in conformity with the requirements indicated in this advertisement will not be considered for further processing. While applying, candidates need to ensure that they fulfill the eligibility criteria and other requirements, and that the particulars furnished by them are correct in all respects.
- In case it is found at any stage of recruitment process that the candidate does not fulfill the eligibility criteria and/or does not comply with other requirements and/or he/she has furnished any incorrect/false information and/or has suppressed any material fact(s), his/her candidature is liable to be rejected
