IIT Gandhinagar is seeking a Project Associate-I for a SERB funded project on local and global contact problems in elastic rods. The role involves researching and developing theories, numerical algorithms, and conducting experiments related to contact problems in elastic rods.
Candidates with a B.Tech in Mechanics/Mechanical/Civil/Aerospace Engineering or an M.Sc. in Physics/Mathematics are eligible. Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Mathematica/Matlab/Python are required. The appointment is for one year with a possibility of extension based on performance.

Qualification for IIT Gandhinagar Recruitment 2024
- A B.Tech degree in Mechanics/Mechanical/Civil/Aerospace Engineering or allied areas, with strong interest in solid mechanics, is required.
- Candidates with an M.Sc. degree in Physics/Mathematics are also eligible to apply.
- A good candidate will have, in addition to the aforementioned qualifications, good communication and writing skills, and a working knowledge of Mathematica/Matlab/Python.
Salary for IIT Gandhinagar Recruitment 2024
- 31,000/- per month + HRA (if on-campus accommodation is unavailable) to Scholars who are selected through (a) National Eligibility Tests - CSIR- UGC NET including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) or GATE or
- A selection process through National level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and Institutions.
- 25,000/- per month + HRA (if on-campus accommodation is unavailable)for others who do not fall under the category (i) above.
Job Description for IIT Gandhinagar Recruitment 2024
- A successful candidate will conduct research on contact problems in elastic rods.
- The scope of the research includes, but is not limited to, developing theories to solve for contact problems involving contact of elastic rods with self and external obstacles, developing numerical algorithms to construct solutions, and conducting table top experiments to validate predictions of the theory.
- The position is ideally suited for applicants with a background in solid mechanics, and a strong interest in theoretical and analytical work.
