The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Pune, established in 2006 under the Ministry of Education, has announced a vacancy for the position of Project Associate-I or Junior Research Fellow for a project titled "Transcription-translation uncoupling in bacteria: Dissecting the fundamental principles of a phenomenon unknown in bacteria," funded by the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB).
Candidates must possess an M.Sc./M.S./M. Tech. in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, or Bioinformatics with a minimum of 70% marks. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in bioinformatic analyses, large data analyses, genome sequence data analyses, and those with relevant project work experience. Basic molecular biology experimental skills and protein purification skills are desirable.
The position is initially for one year, extendable based on performance and project continuation. The consolidated emoluments range from Rs. 25,000/- to Rs. 31,000/- per month, depending on qualifications. The upper age limit is 35 for Project Associate-I and 28 for Junior Research Fellow.

Qualifications Details for IISER Pune Recruitment 2024
- M.Sc. /M.S. /M. Tech. in Life sciences / Biotechnology / Bioinformatics with minimum 70% marks / equivalent grade
- If needed, additional percentage cut-off will be applied during the screening process.
- Experience in bioinformatic analyses, large data analyses, genome sequence data analyses for differential abundance of transcripts and polymorphism.
- Experience during the M.Sc. / M. Tech project work will also be considered.
- Basic molecular biology experimental skills, protein purification and quantification skills is desirable.
Age Limit for IISER Pune Recruitment 2024
The upper age limit for the Project Associate-I position is 35 years, meaning candidates should not exceed this age at the time of application submission. For the Junior Research Fellow role, the upper age limit is 28 years, indicating candidates must be within this age bracket on the application deadline.
Pay Scale for IISER Pune Recruitment 2024
The monthly consolidated emoluments for this position are Rs. 25,000/- along with a 24% House Rent Allowance, or Rs. 31,000/- with the same House Rent Allowance percentage. These rates apply to candidates who possess a valid CSIR-NET/GATE/DBT – JRF scorecard or any other National Level Test conducted by Central Government Departments and their agencies.
