The Indian Institute of Engineering Science & Technology (lES), Shibpur, Howrah-111 105, Bengal, has announced a vacancy for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in the Department of Chemistry. The appointment is for a duration of 3 years, extending up to February 2027 or until the project's completion, whichever comes earlier.
Candidates must possess a B.Sc Hons degree in Chemistry and M.Sc in Chemistry from a recognized University/institute with a minimum of 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA on a 10 point scale throughout their academic career. Valid GATE/NET qualifications are required for application. For SC/ST category candidates, a minimum of 55% marks or 6.0 CGPA on a 10 point scale is necessary along with valid GATE/NET.
Desirable qualifications include specialization in Inorganic or Physical Chemistry in M.Sc., experience in working with nanomaterials/electrochemical analyzer, or proficiency in material characterization and analysis. The fellowship offered is Rs. 25,000/- per month (consolidated), with an age limit of maximum 28 years, extendable by up to 5 years for SC/ST/OBC/Woman and Physically handicapped candidates.

Qualifications Details for IIEST Shibpur Recruitment 2024
- The candidates with B.Sc Hons degree in Chemistry and M.Sc in Chemistry from a recognized University/institute with minimum 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA on a 10 point scale (throughout from class X to the qualifying degree) are eligible to apply for the JRF positions with valid GATE/ NET. For SC/ST category, a minimum 55% marks or 6.0 CGPA on 10 point scale (throughout from class X to the qualifying degree) is required with valid GATE/NET.
- M.Sc. in Chemistry with Inorganic or Physical Chemistry Specialization/ prior experience to work with nanomaterials/electrochemical analyzer or experience in material characterization and analysis.
- The selected candidates are eligible to register for PhD degree at IIEST, Shipur as per institute rules. However, s(he) needs to apply for PhD position when the advertisement is open.
Age Limit for IIEST Shibpur Recruitment 2024
- The maximum age limit for the Junior Research Fellow (JRF) position is 28 years.
- However, there is a relaxation of up to 5 years in the upper age limit for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/Woman and Physically handicapped categories.
