The Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIAP) has announced openings for the position of Research Trainee, with three vacancies available at VBO, Kavalur. Interested candidates who have an M.Sc in Physics or Astrophysics with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications For IIAP Recruitment 2024
- M.Sc in Physics / Astrophysics with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks from a recognized University/Institution.
- Candidates with work experience in astronomical observations/telescopes/data analyses will be given preference. Proof of the work experience should be enclosed while applying for the post.
Job Description For IIAP Recruitment 2024
- The selected candidate should discharge the following responsibilities which include but not limited to:
- The positions are for carrying out astronomical observations with telescopes at night. The candidates should be fit enough and willing to work full night (up to 12 hours).
Terms & Conditions For IIAP Recruitment 2024
- The appointment is purely temporary on contract basis and does not confer any privilege or benefit applicable to regular employment. No claim whatsoever for regular employment in the Institute shall be entertained.
- The tenure of traineeship is for a period of one year and extendable annually for four years (Total five years of traineeship) subject to satisfactory performance of the candidate and requirement to the Project assessed annually.
- You are liable to be posted anywhere in India as per the requirement of the Institute.
- There will be annual increase of Rs. 2,500/- in the remuneration based on satisfactory performance.
- The date of determining the upper age limit, qualifications and experience shall be the closing date prescribed for receipt of completed applications.
- It is open to the Institute to conduct written test to shortlist the candidates for interview in case the attendance of candidates is more.
- Age relaxation is permissible to SC, ST & OBC candidates and also to physically handicapped candidate as notified by Government of India from time to time.
- The incumbent candidate will be posted to work in VBO, Kavalur and is liable to be posted anywhere in India as per the requirement of the Institute/Project.
- NO TA/DA will be reimbursed to the shortlisted candidates for attending Interview/Skill Test.
- No correspondence will be entertained with the candidates not selected for interview/appointment. Canvassing in any form will be a disqualification.
- The prescribed educational qualifications are minimum required, and mere possession of the same does not entitle candidates to be called for interview.
- Where the number of applications received in response to the advertisement is large and it will not be convenient or possible for the Institute to interview all those candidates, the Institute reserves the right to limit number of candidates to be called for interview on the basis of qualifications and experience higher than the minimum prescribed in the advertisement.
- The Institute reserves the right to cancel the entire recruitment process at any time without assigning any reasons whatsoever.
