Applications are being sought from Indian Nationals for the position of Postdoctoral Research Associate within Professor Suhrit Ghosh's group at the Technical Research Centre (TRC), IACS, Kolkata, focusing on Translational research. The tenure of the position is temporary initially up to March 31, 2025, with the possibility of extension for one more year depending on project continuity and recommendation by the research advisory committee.
Essential qualifications include a PhD in Science or submission of a PhD thesis, with preference given to candidates with research experience in Biophysics, Chemical Biology, Self-Assembly of (Macro)molecules in water, and related fields. Fellowship will be as per IACS rules, and applications must be submitted by May 25, 2024, via email with a cover letter and resume as a single PDF file.
Shortlisted candidates will be selected based on academic record, research publications, and alignment of past research expertise with the requirements, followed by an interview. The selection committee holds the authority to recommend placement as RA-I, RA-II, or RA-III as per DST guidelines. The interview is tentatively scheduled for the 1st week of June 2024, with shortlisted candidates notified via email of the schedule.

Qualifications Details for IACS Recruitment 2024
- PhD in Science. Candidates who have submitted PhD thesis, but yet to receive the degree are also eligible. But if selected, they will be receiving reduced fellowship (equivalent to SRF position) until the PhD degree certificate is submitted.
- Past research experience in Biophysics, Chemical Biology, SelfAssembly of (Macro)molecules in water and related fields will be preferred.
Pay Scale for IACS Recruitment 2024
The fellowship for the Postdoctoral Research Associate position is determined in accordance with the regulations of IACS.
Selection Process for IACS Recruitment 2024
- Applications will be shortlisted on the basis of past academic record, research publications, match of the past research expertise with desired requirements and other academic parameters, as decided by the selection committee. Only shortlisted candidates will be communicated via email and called for an interview for the final selection
- Merely satisfying the essential qualification does not guarantee that a candidate will be shortlisted for interview. IACS holds the full right of choosing a candidate and even not selecting any, in case suitable applications are not received. Based on the past research experience and academic background, the selection committee holds the right to recommend the placement of the selected candidates as RA-I or RA-II or RA-III as per DST guideline
