The Harish-Chandra Research Institute (HRI) is seeking an exceptional scientist, mathematician, or engineer with international recognition to serve as the Director of the institute. HRI, a Constituent Institution of the Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI), is looking for candidates aged between 50 to 57 years as of 30.04.2024.
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. degree in a relevant subject aligned with the research areas of the institute, with a first-class or equivalent at the preceding degree level. The deadline for submitting applications or nominations, either by hand delivery or post, is 30.04.2024, 5:00 PM.

Qualification for HRI Recruitment 2024
- The candidate should have a Ph.D. degree in a subject relevant to the research areas of institute and other related areas, with a first class or equivalent at the preceding degree.
- The candidate should be an eminent scientist/mathematician/engineer with an excellent academic background and should have a track record of very high quality research publications in reputed peer reviewed journals.
- Proven leadership qualities and adequate experience in the management of scientific/research groups are necessary.
- The candidate should have experience either in the analogous grade (Pay Level 15 of the VII CPC Pay Matrix) or at least five years in the grade one below, that is, Professor or SO (H) (Pay Level 14 of the VII CPC Pay Matrix).
Pay Scale for HRI Recruitment 2024
Scale of Pay of the Post : The scale of pay of the post of the Director, HRI is in Pay Level 15 of the VII CPC Pay Matrix plus allowances as per the rules of the Government of India. Residential accommodation on the campus of the institute and health care benefits as per the rules of the institute shall be provided.
Age Limit for HRI Recruitment 2024
- Candidates shall not be less than 50 years of age and shall not be more than 57 years of age as on 30.04.2024.
- The Director, HRI shall hold office for five years from the date of appointment or until the age of 60 years, whichever is earlier. The tenure may be extended in accordance with the provisions of the Bye-laws of the institute.
Selection Procedure for HRI Recruitment 2024
- Appointment to the post shall be made by the Governing Council of HRI with the approval of the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) and on the recommendation of the Search-cum-Selection Committee constituted by the Department of Atomic Energy for the purpose of selecting the Director, HRI.
- This Search-cum-Selection Committee will consider the applications received in response to this advertisement as well as nominations received from eminent persons.
