The Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC) is recruiting for four Secretary posts with a salary range of Rs. 48,700 - 1,54,300/-. Applicants must be between 18 and 45 years old as of January 1, 2024, with age relaxations available for reserved categories. The required qualifications include an M.Sc. in Agriculture or Horticulture, or a B.Sc. in the same fields followed by an MBA, preferably in Agriculture Business, from a recognized university.
Candidates must apply online through the HPPSC official website by September 2, 2024. The application involves creating a profile on the "One Time Registration" (OTR) portal, uploading necessary documents, and paying the examination fee. The fees vary: Rs. 600 for general category male candidates and Rs. 150 for SC, ST, OBC, and EWS categories. Certain candidates, including blind and visually impaired male candidates of Himachal Pradesh, are exempt from the fee. No changes to the application are allowed post-submission except for category changes under specific rules.
The selection process includes a preliminary exam and a personality test. Applicants must ensure all submitted documents are clear and accurate. Applications missing a recent photograph or signature will be rejected. The application is considered complete only when the fee payment is confirmed and credited to the Commission's account. No opportunity will be given to submit additional documents post-application submission.

Qualifications Details for HPPSC Recruitment 2024
- M.Sc.(Agriculture / Horticulture) or B.Sc.(Agriculture / Horticulture) followed by MBA preferably in Agriculture Business from recognized University / Institution.
Age Limit for HPPSC Recruitment 2024
- The age limit for the Secretary Posts at the Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC) is between 18 and 45 years as of January 1, 2024.
- However, the upper age limit is relaxable by five years for candidates who belong to the Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC), Persons with Disabilities, and Children/Grandchildren of Freedom Fighters of Himachal Pradesh, provided there is a reserved post for these categories.
- For HP Government employees and Ex-Servicemen, age relaxation follows the Government’s current instructions.
- Age relaxation for SC, ST, OBC, WFF, and Persons with Disabilities is available only if there is a reserved post for these categories.
- Candidates must ensure their date of birth is accurately recorded as per their matriculation or equivalent certificate, as no changes will be permitted after submission.
Pay Scale for HPPSC Recruitment 2024
- The pay scale for the Secretary Posts at Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC) ranges from Rs. 48,700 to Rs. 1,54,300, corresponding to Pay Band Level 16.
Examination Fee for HPPSC Recruitment 2024
- Male candidates from the General category, General Physically Disabled (orthopedically disabled, Deaf & Dumb, and Hearing Impaired), Economically Weaker Section (EWS) (not included in the BPL category), Wards of Freedom Fighter categories (WFF), and General – Ex-Servicemen of Himachal Pradesh who have been relieved from the Defence Services on their own request before completing their normal tenure of service under the Government of India, are required to pay a fee of ₹600. Candidates from other states, including those belonging to reserved categories, also need to pay ₹600.
- Male candidates from SC, ST, OBC, and EWS covered under UR – BPL categories of Himachal Pradesh, as well as Ex-Servicemen candidates of Himachal Pradesh belonging to SC, ST, and OBC categories who have been relieved from the Defence Services on their own request before completing their normal tenure of service under the Government of India, are required to pay a reduced fee of ₹150.
- Ex-Servicemen male candidates of Himachal Pradesh who have been relieved from the Defence Services after completing their normal tenure of service under the Government of India, and Blind and Visually Impaired male candidates of Himachal Pradesh, are exempted from paying the examination fee.
Selection Process for HPPSC Recruitment 2024
- The selection process involves multiple stages. The first stage is the Screening or Preliminary Exam, where initial assessments are conducted to filter candidates. Following this, the second stage is the Personality Test, designed to evaluate the candidates' character traits and suitability for the role.
How to Apply for HPPSC Recruitment 2024
- Detailed instructions for filling up Online Recruitment Application (ORA) are available on the website of the Commission i.e. “http://www.hppsc.hp.gov.in/hppsc”.
- Desirous/eligible candidates must have to apply online through official website of the Commission i.e. http://www.hppsc.hp.gov.in/hppsc. Applications received through any other mode would not be accepted and will be rejected straightway.
- The desirous and eligible candidate may visit the official website of the Commission (http://www.hppsc.hp.gov.in/hppsc) and click on the link “Apply Online” on the Home Page. On the opened page the candidate will click on the link “One Time Registration (OTR) for Examinations” and on the opened page will register and create his / her profile by clicking on “New Registration” if not registered already.
- After registration or if already registered the candidate will have to log into his / her account in OTR page, Once logged in, the list of live advertisements will be displayed to the candidate on the dashboard. Candidate will apply for a particular post through this portal only. The application of the candidate will be submitted only after uploading of requisite documents as per advertisement.
- Before submission of application, the candidate will have to give an undertaking/ declaration that:- “It is certified that I have checked the preview of all the requisite uploaded documents and I am satisfied that documents are legible, readable and true. That I shall not object to rejection of my candidature based on the sole reasons of uploaded documents being non-readable/ poor quality of scanning.”
- No further opportunity will be given to the candidates for submission of any documents after the submission of online recruitment application.
- An application submitted in online mode shall be deemed to have been successfully submitted only after payment of fee has been acknowledged and the fee is credited to the account of the Commission.
- Online Recruitment Application (ORA) once submitted shall not be allowed any change except change of category of HPPSC (Procedure and Transaction of Business) Rules, 2023.
- Application without scanned latest photograph or signature shall be rejected straightaway.
- Candidates must apply online through the HPPSC official website by September 2, 2024.
