High Court of Uttarakhand Recruitment 2024
The High Court of Uttarakhand is seeking applications from eligible practicing Advocates to fill three vacant positions of Additional District And Sessions Judge through direct recruitment in the Uttarakhand Higher Judicial Service. Candidates must be Indian citizens and have practiced as an Advocate for at least seven years as of January 1, 2024.
The salary for the position is in the pay scale of J-5, ranging from Rs. 1,44,840 to Rs. 1,94,660. Examination fees vary for different categories and must be paid in favor of the Registrar General, High Court of Uttarakhand, Nainital. The selection process includes a Preliminary examination, Main examination, and Viva-voce.
The last date to submit the application form by Registered or Speed Post/Courier/By-hand to the office of the Registrar General, High Court of Uttarakhand, Nainital, is June 10, 2024, by 4:00 PM. Applications received after this date will not be considered. The list of eligible candidates will be uploaded on the High Court's website in due course.

Qualification for High Court of Uttarakhand Recruitment 2024
- No person shall be eligible for appointment to the post of Additional District & Sessions Judge in Uttarakhand Higher Judicial Service by direct recruitment from Bar, unless:-
- He/ She is a Citizen of India
- He/ She has practiced as an Advocate for not less than seven years *continuous standing at bar, as on the first day of January 2024. (Certificate of competent authority is required.)
- Prosecuting Officers/ Assistant Prosecuting Officers are also treated to be an Advocate and are eligible as per the Judgments passed by Hon’ble Supreme Court in “Civil Appeal No. 561 of 2013; Deepak Aggarwal Vs. Keshav Kaushik & Others”.
- The applicant for recruitment to the Service must possess thorough knowledge of Hindi in Devnagari Script and English.
- The question papers shall be Bilingual i.e. English and Hindi Language but the candidates shall have a choice to answer either in Hindi or English.
Pay Scale for High Court of Uttarakhand Recruitment 2024
Applications are invited from the eligible practicing Advocates for filling–up 03 (Three) vacant post(s) of Additional District And Sessions Judge, by direct recruitment, in the Uttarakhand Higher Judicial Service, in the pay scale of J-5 i.e. ₹ 144840-194660 in accordance with the provisions of Uttarakhand Higher Judicial Service Rules, 2004 (as amended from time to time).
Age Limit for High Court of Uttarakhand Recruitment 2024
- Applicants to the direct recruitment must have attained the age of 35 years and must not have attained the age of 45 years, on the 1st day of January 2024. In other words, applicants should have been born on or after 02.01.1979 and not later than 01.01.1989
- Relaxation of 5 years in maximum age limit will be admissible for S.C. category in accordance with G.O. No. 1399/XXX(2)/2005 dated 21.05.2005.
Examination Fee for High Court of Uttarakhand Recruitment 2024
- General (Uttarakhand Female): Rs. 1000/-.
- Economically Weaker Section (E.W.S.), Scheduled Caste (S.C.): Rs. 750/-
- The aforementioned fees shall be payable in favor of 'Registrar General, High Court of Uttarakhand, Nainital’ by way of account payee Demand Draft/ Banker’s Cheque of any Bank payable at Nainital.
- Applications without the prescribed fee would not be considered.
- Fee once paid shall not be refunded, in any case.
Selection Procedure for High Court of Uttarakhand Recruitment 2024
The examination for H.J.S. (Direct recruitment) shall be conducted in three parts:
(i) Preliminary examination,
(ii) Main examination,
(iii) Viva-voce
The Preliminary examination shall be objective type (multiple choice questions) of 90 minutes duration comprising of 100 questions (on OMR sheet) to test the overall knowledge of the candidates with respect to the following
(i) English Language
(ii) General Knowledge
(iii) Current Affairs
(iv) History and Geography
(v) Science and Technology
(vi) Sports
(vii) Law and the Constitution of India

- The last date for submission of duly completed application form by Registered or Speed Post/ Courier/ By-hand in the office of “Registrar General, High Court of Uttarakhand, Nainital” is 10.06.2024 by 4.00 P.M.
- The envelope containing the Application Form must clearly mention on its top “Application for H.J.S. (DIR) Examination - 2024”.
- The High Court will not be responsible for any delay whatsoever, in timely receiving of application complete in all aspects.
- Application received after the last date and time as mentioned above will not be entertained.
- The list of candidates eligible to appear in the Preliminary/ Mains Examination will be uploaded on the website of High Court in due course.
