The Department of Fisheries (DOF) has issued a recruitment notification for the position of Joint Commissioner. There is one vacancy available with a competitive salary range of Rs. 123,100 to Rs. 215,900 per month.
Candidates must hold a Master’s Degree in Zoology with specialization in Fisheries, Marine Biology, Industrial Fisheries, Aquaculture, or Fisheries Science, and have at least ten years of relevant experience in fisheries research, management, policy, and development.
A Doctorate in Zoology is desirable. The maximum age limit for applicants is 56 years as of the application deadline, which is October 28, 2024. To apply, eligible officers should submit their applications through proper channels to the Under Secretary (Admn), Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying, Department of Fisheries, New Delhi.

Qualifications Details for DOF Recruitment 2024
Master's Degree in Zoology with specialization in Fisheries or M. F. Sc. Or M. Sc. in Marine Biology or M. Sc. in Industrial Fisheries or M. Sc. In Aquaculture or M.Sc. in Fisheries Science from a recognized University or Institute; ten years of experience of research or development in the field of Fisheries (Inland or Marine or Aquaculture) including management, policy and planning, formulation and monitoring of development Schemes for fisheries and trade or fishery health-related matter from a Central Government or State Government Department or Union territory Administration or Statutory or Autonomous Organisation or Public Sector Undertaking or recognized University or Recognised Research Institute.
Desirable Qualification: Doctorate degree in Zoology from a recognized University or Institute. The Period of deputation (including short-term contract) including the period of deputation in another ex-cadre post held immediately preceding this appointment in the same or some other organization/department of the Central Government shall ordinarily not exceed five years.
Age Limit for DOF Recruitment 2024
The maximum age limit for appointment on deputation shall be not exceed fifty-six years as on the last date of receipt of applications. The pay of the officer selected will be governed by the provisions laid down in the Department of Personnel and Training OM No.6/8/2009-Estt. (Pay-II) dated 17th June, 2010 as amended from time to time.
Pay Scale for DOF Recruitment 2024
- The undersigned is directed to say that the last date/closing date for vacancy circular of the post of Joint Commissioner (Fisheries) in Level 13 of the Pay Matrix (123100-215900) in the Department of Fisheries.
- Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying is further extended for 60 days from the date of issue of this circular or from the date of advertisement of vacancy in Employment News, whichever is later.

Applications from eligible officers in the enclosed proforma (in duplicate) may be forwarded through proper channel to the Under Secretary (Admn), Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying, Department of Fisheries, 1st Floor, Chander Lok Building, 36 Janpath, New Delhi-110001 within 60 days from the date of publication of this advertisement in the Employment News along with up to date APARs for the last 5 years, in original or photocopies duly attested by an officer of the level of Under Secretary or above, Vigilance Clearance Certificate, Integrity Certificate and the Certificate of major/minor penalty imposed on the officer during the last 10 years of his service. The Cadre Controlling Authority may also certify to the effect that the particulars furnished by the officer have been verified and found correct.
