The Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) has announced a recruitment notification for the position of Assistant Professor in Forensic Science, with one available post. Eligible candidates must hold an M.Sc. degree with at least 55% marks in Forensic Science, having studied 'Forensic Biology' as part of their degree. In addition, applicants must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by UGC, CSIR, or equivalent tests like SLET/SET, unless the subject is exempt from these tests. Candidates with a Ph.D. must meet specific requirements, including having their Ph.D. thesis evaluated by two external examiners, successfully completing an open viva voce, publishing two research papers from their Ph.D. work, and presenting at least two conference papers.

• M.Sc with 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point-scale wherever the grading system is followed) in Forensic Science.
• Candidate must have studied 'Forensic Biology' as a part of the Master's Degree, from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.
• Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC, CSIR or similar test accredited by the UGC like SLET/SET.
• The clearing of NET/SLET/SET shall not be required for candidates in such disciplines for which NET/SLET/SET has not been conducted.
• The Ph.D. degree of the candidate has been awarded in a regular mode;
• The Ph.D. thesis has been evaluated by at least two external examiners;
• An open Ph.D. viva voce of the candidate has been conducted;
• The candidate has published two research papers from his/her Ph.D. work, out of which at least one is in a refereed journal;
• The candidate has presented at least two papers based on his/her Ph.D. work in conferences/seminars sponsored/funded/supported by the UGC/ ICSSR/ CSIR or any similar agency.

Age Limit for CUSAT Recruitment 2024

• Maximum age for considering against State Government / State Government (Quasi) vacancies is limited to 50 years

Other conditions For CUSAT Recruitment 2024

• The appointment against the above vacancy will be made as per UGC Regulations and Reservation Principles according to Cochin University of Science and Technology Act, 1986 and Kerala State Government Rules.
• The posts earmarked for Reserved Categories are exclusively reserved for them as per the provisions in the Kerala State & Subordinate Service Rules.
• The natives of States other than Kerala shall not apply for the posts notified exclusively under community reservation quota (SC/ST/Other Backward Communities/EWS/Differently abled) as per the provisions in the Kerala State & Subordinate Service Rules, 1958, as amended from time to time.
• Only persons having minimum 40% disability shall be eligible for reservation / concessions set apart for the Persons with Disability (PwD).
• The Person availing the reservation for Persons with Disabilities shall invariably submit a Disability Certificate issued by a Medical Board duly constituted by the State / Central Government.
• A relaxation of 5% shall be allowed at the Bachelor’s as well as the Master’s Level for the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe/Other Backward Classes (OBC) (Non-Creamy Layer) / Differently-abled for the purpose of eligibility and assessing good academic record for direct recruitment.
• The eligibility marks of 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever the grading System is followed) and the relaxation of 5% to the categories mentioned above are permissible, based only on qualifying marks without including any grace mark procedure.
• A relaxation of 5% shall be provided (from 55% to 50% of the marks) to the Ph.D. Degree holders who have obtained their Master’s Degree prior to 19 September, 1991
