The Bombay High Court has announced the recruitment of 28 District Judges in Mumbai, with applications open from 5th September to 26th September 2024. Candidates must be Indian citizens with a degree in law and have at least seven years of experience as practicing advocates in the Bombay High Court or subordinate courts.
Alternatively, those who have served as Public Prosecutors, Government Advocates, or Judicial Officers for a minimum of seven years are also eligible. The age limit for candidates is between 35 and 48 years for those from backward communities and up to 45 years for others.
The position offers a pay scale of Rs.144,840 to Rs.194,660, along with additional allowances. Selected candidates are required to sign a bond of Rs.2,00,000, committing to work in the role for at least three years. The application process is entirely online via the High Court's official website, with a non-refundable application fee of Rs.500 for candidates from backward communities and Rs.1,000 for others. The selection process will be merit-based, consisting of a main written examination and a viva-voce interview.

Eligibility Criteria For Bombay High Court Recruitment 2024
- A citizen of India
- A holder of Degree in Law
- Practising as an Advocate in the High Court of Bombay or Courts subordinate thereto for not less than seven years on the date of publication of Advertisement and while computing the period for practising as an Advocate, the period during which he/she has held the post of Public Prosecutor or Government Advocate or Judicial Officer shall be included
- A candidate must be working or must have worked as PublicProsecutor or Government Advocate for not less than 7 years in the post or posts on the date of publication of the Advertisement, and while computing the period of 7 years, the period during which the candidate has practised as an Advocate shall be included
Age Limit for Bombay High Court Recruitment 2024
- A candidate must have attained the age of thirty-five years and must not have attained the age of forty-eight years in the case of candidates belonging to communities recognized as backward by the Government for the purpose of recruitment and forty-five years in the case of others, as on the date of publication of Advertisement
Pay Scale for Bombay High Court Recruitment 2024
- Pay scale of Rs.144840-194660 + dearness allowance and other allowances as admissible under the Rules.
- The number of vacancies are likely to vary, which shall be notified on the official website only.
- In that event no separate applications shall be invited.
- The selected candidate will have to execute a Bond in the sum of Rs.2,00,000/- (Rupees Two Lakhs only) to work on the post for a period of 3 years from the date of joining, in default the candidate himself/herself, his/her legal heirs, legal representatives, executors and assignees will be liable to pay/forfeit to the Government of Maharashtra the said amount.

- The candidate is required to pay Registration fees of Rs.500/- (Rupees Five Hundred only) for the candidates belonging to communities recognized as backward by the Government and Rs.1,000/- (Rupees One Thousand Only) in case of others through 'SBCollect' an on-line payment gateway facility, only, (https://www.onlinesbi.sbi/sbicollect/icollecthome.htm?corpID=917433) into the account of Assistant Registrar for Registrar General, High Court, Appellate Side, Mumbai.
- The fee is non-refundable. Mere payment of non-refundable fee by the candidate does not create any right in favour of the candidate to appear for the Preliminary Written Examination / Main Written Examination.
Selection Process For Bombay High Court Recruitment 2024
- The selection will be made strictly on merit on the basis of the marks secured by the candidates in the Main Written Examination and Viva-voce.
- Success in the examinations and resultant selection shall confer no right of appointment to the candidate and unless the Government, in consultation with the High Court, is satisfied, after such enquiry as may be considered necessary, that the candidate is suitable in all respects for appointment, he/she will not be appointed to the post.
- The High Court reserves its right of short-listing at the time of scrutiny of applications by applying uniform and reasonable norms.

- The candidates shall submit their applications On-line only in the prescribed format through the High Court website i.e. https://bombayhighcourt.nic.in The link will open from Thursday, 5th September, 2024 after 10.30 a.m. till Thursday, 26th September, 2024 upto 04.30 p.m. only.
- Before starting filling in on-line application, the candidate must have his/her latest passport size photograph and signature duly scanned in separate files in the ".jpg" format in such a manner that each file size shall not exceed 40KB and shall attach the same at the appropriate places shown in the on-line application form.
