About - Staff Selection Commission Northern Region

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is an organization under the Government of India responsible for recruiting staff across various ministries, departments, and subordinate offices. It operates as an attached office of the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) and comprises a chairman, two members, and a secretary-cum-controller of examinations, a position equivalent to that of an additional secretary to the government of India.[2]

In a significant move, SSC decided to conduct the Multi-Tasking (Non-Technical) Staff examination in January 2023 in 13 Indian languages. These languages include Urdu, Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Konkani, Meitei (Manipuri), Marathi, Odia, and Punjabi, alongside Hindi and English. This initiative marks the first time these 13 languages have been included among the 22 official languages of the Indian Republic for this examination.
