Shipping Corporation of India Recruitment 2024 Walk-In Interviews for Crane Operators on May 27, 2024
The Shipping Corporation of India Ltd. (SCI) is conducting a walk-in interview on May 27, 2024, Monday, at 11:00 a.m. to recruit Crane Operators for MSVs on a direct contract basis, with three vacancies available. Eligible candidates must possess either a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized polytechnic or a National Trade Certificate in specific trades issued by the National Council of Training in Vocational Trade, Ministry of Labour, Government of India, or by the Industrial Training Institute of State Government, along with a minimum of one year of rank experience as a Crane Operator.
Preference will be given to candidates approved by ONGC and those with experience on ONGC MSVs. Necessary documents include valid Indian CDC, Passport, PAN Card, INDOS no., and PCC, along with completion of required STCW courses, H2S & STSDSD from DG approved institutes, and medical fitness for sea service.
Crane Operators will be engaged on direct contracts with prevailing day rates offered by SCI, following the terms and conditions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. The selection process involves verification of documents, interviews, and medical examinations, with selected candidates posted on vessels subject to completion of joining formalities. However, SCI does not guarantee contractual employment or job security for selected candidates, and candidates will be called for medical and postings as per vessel requirements.

Qualifications Details for Shipping Corporation of India Recruitment 2024
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from recognized polytechnic or National Trade Certificate in the trade of Fitter/Marine Fitter or Diesel / Motor Mechanic or Machinist or Welder issued by National Council of Training in Vocational Trade, Ministry of Labour, Government of India (NCTVT) or by the Industrial Training Institute of State Government (ITI).
- Minimum One Year of Rank experience of Crane Operator. OR Crane Operator having minimum One year of Rank experience on board any MSVs of ONGC (Samudra Nidhi, Samudra Sarvekshak, Samudra Prabha & Samudra Sevak). Preference will be given to the candidates who are approved by ONGC and have sailed on board any ONGC MSVs.
Requirements for Shipping Corporation of India Recruitment 2024
- Must be in possession of valid Indian CDC, Passport, PAN Card, INDOS no. and PCC. Must have completed all required STCW courses, H2S & STSDSD from DG approved institutes. Must be medically fit for sea service as per present medical rules
- Crane Operator will be engaged on direct contract with prevailing day rates offered by SCI. Rest terms and conditions will be as per Collective Bargaining Agreement i.e. NMB-INSA.
Selection Process for Shipping Corporation of India Recruitment 2024
On selection day at given time all applicants to muster/gather in selection hall. Designated officers from FP Dept. and Operation division of SCI will be present in Selection Hall for selection as per requirement. After verification of all documents and selection in interview, candidates will be sent for medical examination. Thereafter medically fit Crane Operator will be posted on the vessels subject to completion of joining formalities, etc
