The National Centre for Polar & Ocean Research (NCPOR) is seeking applications from Senior/Retired scientists for the position of Consultant (Oceanography) on a purely temporary basis for one year. The ideal candidate should hold a PhD in Marine Science/Oceanography, have at least 20 years of experience with proven leadership in oceanography, extensive experience in oceanographic cruise planning/management, and mentoring in oceanography.
The remuneration will be determined by deducting the basic pension from the pay drawn at the time of retirement, and an appropriate Transport Allowance will be provided. The Consultant will support NCPOR in planning oceanographic surveys/expeditions and mentoring young researchers.
The engagement may be extended or curtailed based on performance or project requirements, and termination can occur with a notice period of 7 days. The walk-in-interview is scheduled for June 7, 2024, and candidates must ensure they meet the eligibility criteria before registering. The Director of NCPOR reserves the right to cancel the recruitment process at any stage. Candidates are required to bring original documents and self-attested copies for verification.

Qualifications Details for NCPOR Recruitment 2024
- PhD in Marine Science/ Oceanography from a recognized university
- At least 20 years experience and proven leadership in the field of oceanography, supported by high quality international publications.
- Extensive experience in oceanographic cruise planning/ management and mentoring in oceanography.
- Should have retired from the rank of Scientist G/ Professor (not below the Pay Level 14) on regular basis
Age Limit for NCPOR Recruitment 2024
The National Centre for Polar & Ocean Research (NCPOR) is looking for a Consultant for a one-year term. Candidates applying should not exceed 64 years of age by the closing date of the application. The position is for one post only.
Pay Scale for NCPOR Recruitment 2024
- Fixed monthly remuneration, arrived at by deducting the basic pension from the pay drawn at the time of retirement (as per Department of Expenditure's O.M. No. 3-25/2020-E.IIIA dated 09.12.2020.) OR As per Department of Expenditure’s OM No. 03-25/2020-E.III(A)/Pt. dated 18.10.2023
- Apart from consolidated remuneration, no perquisites such as HRA, DA, or residential accommodation will be provided
Walk-in details for NCPOR Recruitment 2024
- The date of walk-in interview is 07th June 2024 (Friday) and is the cut-off date for all the purposes. (Reporting time for registration on the interview venue for the interview shall be 0900 hrs to 1100 hrs.)
- Candidates must ensure before reporting for the registration that they fulfil the minimum essential eligibility criteria for the post for the interview
