Applicants who are currently studying in class 12th or its equivalent during 2022, 2023, or 2024 are eligible for JEE Main 2024. Qualifying Exam for JEE Main:
- Candidates must have passed the 12th class or equivalent examination in 2022 or 2023.
- Those appearing for the 12th class or equivalent qualifying exams in 2024 are also eligible to apply.
Age Limit for JEE Main:
- There is no age limit for JEE Main. Any student who passed the 12th class or equivalent exam in 2022, 2023, or will appear in 2024 can apply.
Number of Attempts for JEE Main:
- The JEE Main attempt limit is set for three consecutive years.
- The entrance test will be conducted in two attempts (January and April).
- Students who passed class 10+2 in 2022 and 2023 can appear for the JEE Main 2024 exam.
JEE Main 2024 Qualifying Exams

The final examination under the 10+2 system conducted by any recognized Central/State Board, such as the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi, or the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (ISCE), New Delhi.

The final examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defence Academy.

The Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling with a minimum of five subjects.

Any Public School/Board/University examination in India or any foreign country recognized as equivalent to the 10+2 system by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).

Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) Vocational Examination.

A Diploma recognized by AICTE or a State board of technical education of a minimum of three years duration.

The General Certificate Education (GCE) examination (London/Cambridge/Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level.

The High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University or International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva.

Candidates who have completed the class 12 (or equivalent) examination outside India or from a Board not specified above must obtain a certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) confirming the equivalence of their examination to the class 12 examination.

In case the class 12 examination is not a public examination, the candidate must have passed at least one public (Board or Pre-University) examination earlier.
JEE Main Eligibility Criteria 2024? -FAQ
For candidates who have completed class 12th from NIOS, the state of eligibility will be according to the state in which the study centre was located.
There is no fixed minimum score required in Class 12 for JEE Main. However, candidates must fulfil the eligibility criteria specified by NTA, which includes passing Class 12 or equivalent examination.
