The SParK Lab at IIT Gandhinagar seeks a Junior Research Fellow to spearhead the design and development of biopolymers. The role involves employing molecular biology techniques to construct recombinant DNA and express proteins in microorganisms like E. coli.
The candidate will focus on creating a streamlined process, encompassing the design of proteins with specific mutations to enable crosslinking for hydrogel formation, and enhancing these structures with metal ion sequestration capabilities to tackle environmental pollutants. Minimum qualifications include a degree in Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or a related field, with valid scores in national level exams like GATE/NET. Higher degrees and relevant research experience are advantageous.

Qualifications Details for IIT Gandhinagar Recruitment 2024
- B.Tech / M.Tech/ M.Sc Chemical Engineering / Biotechnology / Microbiology / Biochemistry / Chemistry or a related discipline. Valid GATE/NET/ Other national level examinations scores as indicated by DBT are required.
- Candidates with higher degrees and with the required research experience are also eligible for this position.
- Demonstrated work with anisotropic polymer nanoparticles and hydrogel synthesis.
- Demonstrated experience in molecular biology techniques including PCR, Cloning, Site- directed mutagenesis, protein expression in E. coli systems and purification through chromatography techniques including affinity IMAC and IEX This list of duties and responsibilities is not intended to be all-inclusive and may be expanded as necessary.
