The Gujarat National Law University (GNLU) is inviting applications for multiple academic positions at its Silvassa campus. The available positions include a Professor of Law at Academic Level 14 with a pay scale of ₹1,44,200-2,18,200 (1 post), an Associate Professor of Law at Academic Level 13A with a pay scale of ₹1,31,400-2,17,100 (1 post), two Assistant Professors of Law at Academic Level 10 with a pay scale of ₹57,700-1,82,400 (2 posts), and an Assistant Professor of Sociology at Academic Level 10 with a pay scale of ₹57,700-1,82,400 (1 post).
Eligibility for the Professor of Law includes a Ph.D. with 10 years of teaching/research experience and significant scholarly contributions. For the Associate Professor of Law, candidates need a Ph.D., a Master's degree with 55% marks, eight years of teaching/research experience, and at least seven publications. Assistant Professor positions require a Master's degree with 55% marks and clearance of the NET/SLET/SET exams, or a Ph.D. with specific conditions met, or a Ph.D. from a top 500 ranked foreign university.
Application fees are ₹1000 for general candidates and ₹500 for SC/ST/Differently-abled candidates, payable via Demand Draft to "Gujarat National Law University" by 12th June 2024. Applications must be mailed to the Registrar at GNLU, Gandhinagar, Gujarat, and hand-delivered submissions will not be accepted. The detailed selection process will be communicated to shortlisted candidates via email.

Qualifications Details for GNLU Recruitment 2024
Professor of Law:
- An eminent scholar having a Ph. D. degree in the concerned/ allied/ relevant discipline, and published work of high quality, actively engaged in research with evidence of published work with, a minimum of 10 research publications in the peer-reviewed or UGC-listed journals and a total research score of 120 as per the criteria given in Appendix-II, Table-2 as mentioned in the UGC Regulations, 2018.
- A minimum of ten (10) years’ of teaching experience in University/ College as Assistant Professor/ Associate Professor/ Professor, and/ or research experience at equivalent level at the University/ National Level Institutions with evidence of having successfully guided doctoral candidate. or
- An outstanding professional, having a Ph.D. degree in the relevant/ allied/ applied disciplines, from any academic institutions (not included in A above)/ industry, who has made significant contribution to the knowledge in the concerned/ allied/ relevant discipline, supported by documentary evidence provided he/ she has ten (10) years’ of experience.
Associate Professor of Law:
- A good academic record, with a Ph.D. Degree in the concerned/ allied/ relevant disciplines.
- A Master’s degree with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale, wherever the grading system is followed)
- A minimum of eight (08) years’ of experience of teaching and/ or research in an academic/ research position equivalent to that of Assistant Professor in a University, College or Accredited Research Institution/ industry with a minimum of seven (07) publications in the peer-reviewed or UGClisted journals and a total research score of Seventy five (75) as per the criteria given in AppendixII, Table-2 as mentioned in the UGC Regulations, 2018.
Assistant Professor of Law:
- A Master’s degree with 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point-scale wherever the grading system is followed) in a concerned/ relevant/ allied subject from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.
- Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC or the CSIR, or a similar test accredited by the UGC, like SLET/ SET or who are or have been awarded a Ph. D. degree in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil./ Ph.D. degree) Regulations, 2009 or 2016 and their amendments from time to time as the case may be exempted from NET/ SLET/ SET
- The Ph.D. degree of the candidate has been awarded in a regular mode; The Ph.D. thesis has been evaluated by at least two external examiners; An open Ph.D. viva voce of the candidate has been conducted; The Candidate has published two research papers from his/ her Ph.D. work, out of which atleast one is in a referred journal; The candidate has presented atleast two (02) research papers based on his/ her Ph. D work in Conferences/ seminars sponsored/ funded/ supported by the UGC/ ICSSR/ CSIR or any similar agency.
Assistant Professor of Sociology:
- A Master’s degree with 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point-scale wherever the grading system is followed) in a concerned/ relevant/ allied subject from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university
- Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility

Application fees: ₹ 1000 for candidates from unreserved category and ₹ 500 for candidates from Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe/ Differently-abled (Physically and visually differentlyabled) categories. Fees shall be paid through Demand Draft drawn in favor of “Gujarat National Law University” payable at Ahmedabad. No other mode of fees payment shall be accepted.
