About - Employees State Insurance Corporation

The Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) is one of India's two main statutory social security bodies under the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India, alongside the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation. It manages the fund according to the rules and regulations set forth in the ESI Act of 1948.

Administratively, ESIC is organized into zones, each overseen by a Zonal Insurance Commissioner. Currently, there are five zones spread across India. Each state has a Regional Office (RO) headed typically by an Additional Commissioner or Director-level officer.

These ROs are further divided into Sub-Regional Offices (SROs), each supervised by a Director or Joint Director. Deputy Directors support the Regional Directors by managing various units and branches, ensuring compliance with the Act and its schemes. Additionally, district offices often have Assistant Directors or Social Security Officers (SSOs) who oversee scheme implementation and handle grievances.
