What are the tie-breaking rules followed in APPSC Result 2024?

About APPSC

The Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) was established on November 1, 1956, coinciding with the formation of the state of Andhra Pradesh. Initially known as the Andhra Service Commission, formed in 1953 under the regulations of the Madras Public Service Commission, it merged with the Andhra Public Service Commission and Hyderabad Public Service Commission to form the APPSC in 1956.

At its inception, the Andhra Public Service Commission had a Chairman and two Members, while the Hyderabad Public Service Commission had one Member. Subsequently, the APPSC was constituted with a Chairman and three Members. Over time, the government increased the Commission's strength to a Chairman and five Members in 1981 and then to a Chairman and seven Members in 1983.

In 1994, the government further augmented the strength to a Chairman and nine Members, which remains the current composition. Following the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh as per the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014, the headquarters of the PSC relocated from Telangana to Vijayawada.
